The public hearing for LD 1963 - An Act Regarding the Future of Renewable Energy Transmission in Northern Maine is tomorrow, January 11, at 1:15. This bill revises the language that created the transmission line project, but does nothing to prevent a similar project.
UPDATE - 1/17/24 - the text of the bill is still not available on the Maine government website. This is the text of the bill as submitted by Troy Jackson less than 48 hours before the public hearing.
We’re asking that everyone who was impacted by the potential transmission line to please come to Augusta to testify. If you can’t testify in person, you can submit written testimony online.
How to submit testimony -
If you testify in person, bring 25 copies of your testimony - one for you and one for each member of the committee/staff, plus a few extras.
Generally, 3 minutes is allowed for each speaker. Committee members may ask follow up questions (this does not count as part of your 3 minutes).
If there is a large number of people, the time limit may be reduced to 2 minutes or less.
You can testify in support of the bill, in opposition to the bill, or neither for nor against the bill.
It is courtesy for your testimony to begin by addressing the leadership and members of the committee - "Senator Lawrence, Representative Zeigler, Members of the Committee on Energy, Utilities, Technology"
